A wonderful surprise awaits Xbox 360 owners today, as the long-awaited multiplayer demo for Battlefield Bad Company 2 has finally arrived.

Bad Company 2 represents the biggest challenger to Modern Warfare 2’s supremacy. Though it is unlikely Bad Company 2 will remove Modern Warfare from its perch, it will hopefully make a large dent in its popularity. My dislike of Modern Warfare 2 is well-documented. I consider it nothing more than Halo in disguise with dopey gameplay, poor balance, sloppy design and worst of all, completely broken multiplayer (on every platform!).

Modern Warfare 2 was a major disappointment.

Bad Company 2 looks like a completely different beast.  Grit, carnage, tactics, teamplay, vehicles, aircraft, objectives….and a completely destructible environment. In my humble opinion, Battlefield Bad Company 2 will mop the floor with Modern Warfare 2, offering far more gameplay and variety, graphics every bit as good (if not better, considering the environmental destruction), and best of all: dedicated servers, so multiplayer will actually be smooth for everyone, not some illusion of balance that Modern Warfare 2 foolishly believes is acceptable.

13 Minutes of Battlefield Bad Company 2 Carnage. Modern Warfare Who?

With Modern Warfare 2 selling a bazillion copies around the world, it may seem like a strange time to promote Battlefield Bad Company 2, but Electronic Arts is hell-bent on getting the word out on the CoD killer. As a huge fan of the original Bad Company, which I thought had superior gameplay when compared to Modern Warfare or World at War, Bad Company 2 is at the top of my must-have list for 2010. I’ll take completely destructible environments over the stale environments of Modern Warfare 2 any day. Plus, dedicated servers makes for a superior multiplayer environment, not the inconsistent peer-to-peer illusion that Modern Warfare 2 offers.

Below is 13 minutes of footage from the forthcoming multiplayer beta that will be hitting the PS3 next week.

While the majority of gamers are waiting impatiently for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, I find myself looking forward to Bad Company 2 more. Something about the wide-variety of vehicles and completely destructible environment appeals to me far more than the limited Modern Warfare 2. Electronic Arts has revealed their plans for the Limited Edition and thankfully there are no night-vision goggles to be found.

Everything contained in the Limited Edition can be unlocked by normal players throughout the course of the game. However, ordering the Limited Edition will give you access to the following on day one:

Four vehicle warfare unlocks

* Improved Vehicle Armor – An up-armor package is mounted on all vehicle types, decreasing the effect of both explosive and penetrating warheads, significantly improving vehicle survivability.
* Supreme Vehicle Firepower – Additional weapon packages are mounted for the driver of all armored vehicles, greatly expanding the range of targets the vehicle can successfully engage and destroy.
* Vehicle Motion Sensor – Use this electronics warfare package to locate enemy units in direct proximity to the vehicle.
* Tracer Dart Pistol – This magnetic dart attaches to any vehicle surface, allowing squad members to track, lock on, and fire rockets onto moving targets even beyond line of sight.

Two classic Battlefield 1943 weapons

* M1A1 Submachine Gun – Reliable but heavy this classic weapon is a powerful force in the hands of any Battlefield veteran.
* M1911 Pistol – Highly customized M1911 are favored for its dependability and the power of its large .45 caliber round.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be available on March 2, 2010 in North America for the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system, the PlayStation3 computer entertainment system and the PC. The game will be available on March 5, 2010 in Europe.

Battlefield 1943: Advanced Strategy Guide for Tanks

Tank Tactics

by Chris Jensen

If you are new to the Battlefield series and are looking for tips and tactics, then I recommend you read the original Battlefield 1943 Strategy Guide. It covers the basics like class loadouts, how to fight as a squad, securing objectives, etc. With the fundamentals under your belt, you are now ready to raise your game to the next level. What follows are several tricks and tactics I use that consistently find me racking up tons of points and ruling the leaderboard using nothing more than a tank.

The Tank

The Tank is my primary tool of destruction, though if you don’t know what you’re doing then you won’t survive long using one. On the battlefield tanks are usually the primary target for enemy attack, getting hit with grenades, mines, bazookas and grenade launchers which can quickly tear apart your vehicle. However, with these tactics you should be able to roll right over your opponents and on to victory.

Battlefield 1943 Trailer Gets You All Worked Up for July 8

 News, Videos

I’ve been waiting for Battlefield 1943 since it was first announced and thankfully the wait is almost over. Battlefield 1943 is a downloadable game hitting Xbox Live Arcade on July 8th, with an appearance on the PlayStation network the following day. DICE is delving into new territory with this release and if it turns out to be a success then we can expect other developers to offer up AAA titles at budget prices.

Unlike most titles offered on XBLA and PSN, Battlefield 1943 will look, sound and play like a retail game. It uses an enhanced Frostbite engine that powered Battlefield: Bad Company, though it has one important new feature: complete structure demolition.
