Rumors are flying this morning that the next version of the PSP will be hitting store shelves before Christmas 2009.  Reports remain consistent that the new PSP will have a sliding touchscreen, but more important is the rumor that dual thumb-sticks will be incorporated, which finally brings to end the main handicap of the current PSP design. [Please God, let this be true! - Ed.]

If the next PSP (assuming it exists) ships with only one analog controller, then you can consider it a failure here and now. If it ships with two, then Sony may finally have a viable portable that can compete with the iPhone and the DS.
