Multiplatform

The BIGS

Love baseball but don’t enjoy baseball video games? Hate baseball because you think it’s slow and boring? Well, The Bigs looks to fix that. Coming soon to every major platform near you, The Bigs is taking traditional baseball gaming and turning it up to about 12. Turbo meters, home run pinball, and the Rookie Challenge mode are defnintely going to shake things up.

Expect an arcade experience when you dive in here. Everything that’s real, like stadiums and rosters, will be recreated, but gameplay is quite simply amplified. Lots of homeruns should definitely be expected. Think of it like the Mutant League or NBA Jam of modern day baseball. Oh, and for those of you that say baseball is too long of a game to enjoy, games in The Bigs should only last about 20 minutes over the course of their 5 innings. Take that, naysayers!

The Darkness

Based on the Top Cow comic, The Darkness puts you in the shoes of a demonically possessed mafia hitman. Do I need to say more than that?

OK, fine...The team behind The Chronicles of Riddick is back again with another nonlinear story-driven first-person action title. You can certainly expect some shooting, but the real action comes when you use the demonic powers you’ll have control of. Darklings will do your bidding for you or you can use your demon arm’s special powers to really spice things up. Expect much more on this intense single player (and multiplayer!) experience very soon.

Transformers

Autobots or Decepticons? Prepare to be faced with a choice when you delve into the world of the Transformers game. Of course, with the release of the movie this summer, you knew there had to be a game, right? Well, it looks like this one might actually do justice to the license.

An open-world game that focuses only on the robots and not on the humans featured in the movie, you should expect some serious destructive robot battles here. We’ll have an in-depth preview of the game posted soon, but for now it should suffice to say that fans should come prepared to fight.

PS3

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

Let’s be honest here – if you’ve got a PS3, you’ve probably already got this game preordered. Team Ninja is completely revamping the action adventure hit that originally graced the Xbox three years ago, and it looks damn good. A complete graphical overhaul and action refinements promise to make this already-amazing game even better. Add a new character and a new weapon for Ryu, and you’re sure to end up with one of the stand out titles for the PS3 so far this year.
