The inspiration behind the Sketchy Gamer column was to provide a look at gaming from the perspective of an artist. Realizing that not everyone is a master of Photoshop or even the pencil, we thought we'd use this latest installment to call attention to some of the better tools out there that would allow our readers to make contributions - no matter their artistic skill level.
The first tool we found was Pixton. While not the most robust option or visibly impressive, it certainly makes it easy for readers to focus on what you write and the end product will look the most like a traditional newspaper comic strip.
One of the more impressive sites we found was Comiqs. Comiqs is great because, whether for a Sketchy Gamer submission or not, it allows you to throw comic elements onto existing images and photos which you can then embed into nearly any website. Not only that, but the comics you embed can be played out sequentially through their player. It’s one of the more satisfying tools and it’s easy to get something impressive up and going relatively quickly.
