Xbox 360 owners might not have to wait too long to experience the anticipated release of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. On Tuesday, October 23, a demo of GH3 will be available for download in XBox Live Marketplace for the XBox 360. The demo will include five hit songs that you will be able to rock out to:

• Even Flow by Pearl Jam

• Lay Down by Priestess

• The Metal by Tenacious D

• Hit Me with your Best Shot as made famous by Pat Benatar

• Rock You like a Hurricane as made famous by Scorpions

Along with the demo release, Activision Inc., developer and publisher of Guitar Hero III is also launching an XBox Live online entertainment network weekend in celebration of the game’s release. Starting November 2, fans 13 or older can participate in games and contests such as a 72 hour Play & Win Sweepstakes where every hour a registered player has the chance to win prizes like autographed guitar face plates (Oooh Aaah). Fans will also have a chance to be part of “Meet Your Maker”, a song battle between the creators of Guitar Hero. Registration, contest rules, and more information will be available Tuesday, October 23.

Guitar Hero 3 is the third installment of the Guitar Hero series and is scheduled for release on October 28, 2007 for XBox 360, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2 and 3 and November 12, 2007 for PC and Mac.
