If the number of downloads is any indication of how well a game will sell, then Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation is sure to be a force to be reckoned with. Having already sold 9.5 million games worldwide, the game is now being released for Xbox 360. Today, the downloadable demo for Xbox 360 has surpassed one million on the Xbox LIVE network.

“The demo provides a brief glimpse at the game’s incredible flight action gameplay, and we hope gamers will continue to dominate the skies when Ace Combat 6 ships to stores nationwide on October 23,” announced Makoto Iwai, Executive Vice President and COO at NAMCO BANDAI GAMES America Inc., a leading video games developer and publisher.

For those of you who haven’t experienced the game yet (shame on you), it introduces “living battlefields” over which players must try to “turn the tide of war” in the county of Emmeria. The game features a Dynamic Operating System which enables players to fight their enemies over land, sea, and air while tackling different objectives across multiple fronts. In addition, this game allows you to bulk up your man power in sticky situations by calling in for reinforcements to assist you in battle via the new Allied Support System. Not only that, but single player mode will allow gamers to purchase and upgrade their arsenal of licensed aircraft, choosing from the most fearsome and advanced fighter jets to include in their personal hangar.

Ace Combat 6 introduces “online dogfights” through Xbox LIVE. Exclusively for this series, this lets up to 16 players “earn their wings” in both competition and cooperation with other players.
