St Patrick’s Day is bearing down, meaning it’s time to dust off that moldy green shirt and chug down a few beers that don’t look quite ripe. But once the alcohol has seized control of your veins, what is the best way to make use of it? By grabbing a few controllers and laying waste to your friends of course. But are you lost on what to play? No worries. We have compiled a list of the best games to grab a beer with (not literally, leave your games safely away from your frothing glass) and show your passed out friends who really reigns supreme.

Rock Band

I know, too easy right? This is the obvious choice for any amount of people to play. The sparkling Fender Strat guitar and rubbery drums are too beautiful to resist for any sober person, much less you and those rowdy party guests. Please do take precautions though. No, do not smash your guitar after a killer set. Drummers wanting to twirl their sticks around should probably be confined to a cage, and all singers should be restrained from twirling the mic violently around their head. Too much safety involved? Well add some broken controllers to that hangover and you’re going to wish you heeded my warnings.

Smash Bros. Melee

This is the perfect choice if you really want to see how drunk people will talk themselves out of a loss. It’s bad enough that they picked Jigglypuff, but all those stinking items just made it oh so tough on them. Melee is the best choice here, hands down. The original is too basic to be tolerated anymore and Brawl hasn’t earned its chops yet. If you really want a challenge though, try teaming up with a buddy and taking on a pair of level 9 computer opponents when you can barely make out the screen, it’s a real trip.

Mario Kart

Best choice is either the N64 or Gamecube versions here, unless you’ve got a copy of the original that doesn’t require half an hour of half-assed blowing. Besides, the battle mode on the 64 version is hands down the best the series has ever offered. In fact, make it so the loser has to take a shot, type of alcohol doesn’t matter. Guaranteed to make the perennial loser drop to the floor within 15 minutes.
