Expect GameStop to have “Out of Stock” signs for the Nintendo Wii for another six months. According to COO Dan DeMatteo, Nintendo Wiis won’t “meet demand” for at least another two quarters of the year. "While some shortages still exist, supplies have continuously improved, but we still don't know when supply will meet demand for the Nintendo Wii as they continue to sell out as soon as they hit the shelves."
On a brighter note, there might be a price cut on PlayStation3 and XBox 360 systems this year. According to CFO David Carlson, an estimate of a $50 price cut will occur. There is also word of a price cut on the Nintendo DS and PS2 console as well. Released in November 2006, the Nintendo Wii continues to be selling out every time it is released in stores. The reasonable price of $249.99 for a Nintendo Wii will not be changing anytime soon.
