Harmonix and MTV Games announced that award winning video game Rock Band for the Nintendo Wii is set to release on June 22, 2008 in the U.S. and Canada. The Wii edition will be a Special Edition including the software, drums, microphone, and wireless guitar. Instruments alone will also be available on June 22nd. The game features 63 songs and includes five bonus tracks.
"The social interaction and addictive nature of the Rock Band experience is a perfect fit for the Wii and will undoubtedly be fun for the entire family," says Steve Singer, licensing VP from Nintendo. The Nintendo Wii has a reputation of being a family gathering system, maybe this will be the day we see parents and their children rocking out together. Harmonix's Rock Band won awards including E3's "Best of Show", The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences' "Family Game of the Year", "Outstanding Achievement in Soundtrack", and "Outstanding Innovation in Gaming".
Rock Band is rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB and will sell for the price of $169.99.
