It is the beginning of the year and you know what that means... New Year's Resolutions. No one really goes through with them, but most of us make them anyway. One of the main resolutions people make and break is losing those extra pounds gained over the holidays. And to help us achieve this impossible goal, the fitness-concious people at Nintendo will be bringing Wii Fit to North America. Every Wii owner has tried Wii Sports and felt calories being burned while playing. However, Wii Fit is designed from the bottom up to be a dedicated exercising tool and calorie burner. What better way is there to lose weight than playing a video game? Also, it will be usable by every person, young or old.
One of the reasons it's beneficial is because you won't have the option of sitting down just smashing buttons on a controller. The Wii Fit will include a balance board for you to use instead of the usual Wii Remote and Nunchuk. Be prepared to work every muscle in your body with this new accessory. Activities will include sets of push-ups, step aerobics, and some yoga. The Balance Board will detect every move you make, so there's no cheating while working out. There are also relays such as a virtual park you run through by simply jogging in place. Wii Fit will also record your progress using your Body Mass Index (Yup, the board can also measure your weight).
If exercise routines and aerobic classes aren't your thing, Wii Fit has you covered. The game offers mini activities for the sports person in you. Use the Wii Balance Board to hula dance, act like a goalie, or walk a tight rope. When you turn the Balance Board vertically, it plays the role of a snowboard having you continuously moving your body back and forth to manuever flags and obstacles.
So many games, so little time, so many pounds to lose! The exact date of Wii Fit's release is still yet to be announced, but it will be in the beginning of 2008.
