The upcoming SNK Arcade Classics (Volume 1, in case you’re worried they won’t have everything you want), will soon be made available by SNK Playmore.
Now, in case you’re just too young to know what is in this collection of arcade gems, don’t worry! You’re probably playing the latest iterations of these games, or games that are part of the genre these old classics spawned.
SNK Arcade Classics is a collection of some of the games, primarily fighting games, that populated the beloved arcades of the early 90s, where those touting entire bags of quarters could waste away the afternoon. These include a few odd ones (Last Resort, Baseball Stars II, and Top Hunter, to name a few), and a slew of games just about every arcade goer will remember. Some of those major gems include Metal Slug, Samurai Shodown, and The King of Fighters ’94.
Fortunately, SNK has done away with the need for quarters – or even earning continues, for that matter – by including a mode for every game in the collection that allows for infinite continues. This is fortunate, because in case you either forgot or haven’t played them before, these classic games are hard. Of course, when you defeat them, that makes it that much more satisfying…
Prepare to live the glory days of the arcade fighter soon, especially if you’ve got one of those nifty PS2 arcade controllers lying around.
