Devil May Cry is a few weeks off, but the demo just dropped onto Xbox Live and PSN, giving us all a chance to see what the future holds for us. The demo shows off what this game is truly capable of, as it looks truly beautiful in motion.

The gameplay mechanics hold true to what the previous games have laid before it. The basic hack and slash mechanic is back, along with the introduction of the Devil Arm, which lets you pick up and throw your enemies around like a rag doll. This becomes most useful with the addition of the Grim Grip function that you gain about a quarter of the way through the demo level, which acts like a hookshot and lets you grab far away enemies and grapple points.

This is the major change to the gameplay from what the demo is showing, as the basic Devil May cry strategy of jumping and letting the gun keep you airborne is in full effect here. While this hasn’t changed from the days of the first DMC, it is still fun to do because c’mon, no one else can match the bad ass appeal of that move quite like Dante or one of his carbon copies.

Carbon copy would be the best way to describe Nero in this game, as he controls, looks, and acts exactly the same as his red cape-wearing partner in crime. His personality even retains the same cocky pretentiousness that Dante has put on display for the past several years.
