Awards are basically medals that represent certain feats you’ve accomplished while in the line of duty. They have no bearing on anything except your ego, which is more than enough. And yes, Awards are different than Achievements.
Here is the full list of Awards you can earn:
Attacker: Capture 30 flags
Best Squad: Be in the best squad 3 times in a row.
Defender: Defend 20 flags
Master of Your Domain: 17 kills with each class.
Melee Man: 20 melee kills.
Milk Run: Fly a plan for 20 minutes.
Motorman: 25 kills each with car, tank and plane.
Parachutist: Parachute twice.
Pacific Campaign: Win twice on every map.
Tour of Duty I: 50 matches.
Tour of Duty II: 130 matches.
Veteran: Capture 50 enemy flags.
Master Blaster: Kill 50 enemies with grenades, rifle grenades or explosives.
Infantryman: 50 kills with sub-machine gun.
Rifleman: 50 kills with semi-auto rifle.
Sniper: 50 kills with scoped rifle.
The Best: Get the highest score in a match.
Truly Elite: 10,000 kills.
Squad Assister: 100 squad assists.
Squad Avenger: Avenge 100 squad members.
Lifer: Reach the top rank.
Goodbye Blue Sky: Kill at least one enemy with an air raid.
Fighter Ace: 50 kills with a plane.
Wheelman: 50 kills with a vehicle.
Anti-Tank Efficiency: Kill 4 vehicles with recoiless rifle.
Explosives Efficiency: Kill 4 enemies with grenades or explosives.
Knife Efficiency: Kill 4 enemies with melee weapon.
Pistol Efficiency: Kill 4 enemies with a pistol.
Rifle Efficiency: Kill 4 enemies with a rifle.
Rifle Grenade Efficiency: Kill 4 enemies with rifle grenades.
SMG Efficiency:: Kill 4 enemies with an SMG.
Sniper Efficiency: Kill 4 enemies with a sniper rifle.
Best Squad: Best squad of the round.
Squad Excellence: Each squad member gets any one stamp and 10 kills.
