When you look at the map (START button), you’ll see a bunch of icons near spawn points. These icons are symbols for available assets at that location. Some spawn locations offer access to Bombing Runs, Tanks, Planes, Boats, Machine Gun Emplacements, Tank Repair and Anti-Aircraft Guns. Spawn locations with good assets is your first priority as a team. Rest assured, if your team fails to secure prized spawn points, the enemy will and you’ll pay a heavy price.
Radar is Your friend
The radar at the top-left of the screen is invaluable. Use it to find teammates and squad buddies. More importantly, when you see the icons of your teammates rapidly disappearing then you had best be ready for combat, as that means peeps are dying. Pay close attention to which direction people are facing and use this knowledge to determine where the action is coming from. He who uses the radar religiously will always have the advantage.
It’s Okay to be Sensitive
Under Battlefield 1943 Control Options, you’ll find the ability to raise the sensitivity of your controller. Everyone has a certain setting they feel comfortable with, but I highly recommend you practice at the highest setting. Why? A higher sensitivity means you can swivel your aim faster. The faster you can swivel, the faster you can take down an enemy.
If you’re playing with a low sensitivity then you’ve leveled a handicap on yourself. Find the sweet spot that allows for the fastest turning you can handle while maintaining a solid aim. Practice makes perfect here.
A Beached Boat is of No Use Later
So you’ve taken the controls of a boat and think it will be cool to just park that sucker right on the beach, bail out and storm the front with guns blazing. Granted, you’ll look like a certified maniac, but if you plan on using that boat again, think again. A beached boat will stay beached. Either park it right off the coast and wade ashore or, if you absolutely must park it on the beach, blow it up when you are done so it respawns at its original location.
Lock and…Reload
Battlefield 1943 has done away with limited ammo, meaning you have an endless supply of clips. This doesn’t mean you never need to reload. Reloading takes time and you must keep this in mind when close to heavy action. Try to stay hidden and away from danger before you bother reloading, unless you enjoy looking like a big, meaty target for the enemy.
Note: All of your ammo is represented by small icons at the bottom-right of the game screen. You’ll notice the icons turn red as you expend ammo. This is a visual indicator telling you how long replenishment will take before you are fully stocked.
Don’t be an Ammo Hog
One simple way to cut down on the amount of gun reloading you do is to minimize the amount of bullets you fire. Seems simple and it is, but a ton of players just hold down the fire button and expend their clip taking down a single enemy. Try firing in short bursts. This will not only conserve ammo but will enhance your accuracy as well.
